Vermont or Bust!

On Thursday, I left my hotel in Des Moines, IA at about 8:30am and drove for the next 11 hours or approximately 550 miles, stopping for gas twice, and hitting some pretty bad construction traffic at one point. I ended up in Maumee, OH. Did you know there is a Maumee, OH? I didn't until Thursday night!

On Friday, I left my hotel in Maumee, OH and drove for the next 11 1/2 hours or approximately 560 miles, stopping for gas twice, and hitting some pretty bad construction traffic at one point. (Do you hear an echo???) I ended up in South Burlington, VT, by intention.

I knew I couldn't check in to Eagles until at least early afternoon. And after two days of almost 12 hours in the car each day, I needed to walk. Outside, in the woods, preferably. I know of a trail in South Burlington that was ideal for this. It's called Red Rocks Park. It's not huge (about 100 acres I think) with about 2.5 miles of trails. It's not a difficult set of trails at all, and it includes not only beautiful nature trails through the woods but also pretty awesome views of Lake Champlain from high bluffs above the lake.

And a little bit of wildlife!

I wandered over every path, and just sat and watched the sun sparkle off the water of Lake Champlain for quite a while. It was a beautiful sunny day, not too hot (especially under the trees), and a little breeze. Welcome to Vermont!

Then a few errands, like food to eat while I'm there, and an extension cord (which I hadn't brought with me but knew I would need when I arrived at Eagles) and then to the resort.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is the full moon. I will try to get pictures. Time to relax, and connect, and feel the world around me.

Please wish me good fortune!
