This was the travel agent write-up of this tour. "Be touched by the most ancient human culture on earth on a 90-minute leisurely walkabout with an Aboriginal guide in The Rocks, and journey into Dreamtime, the culture of Aboriginal people. Aboriginal guides will demonstrate how this place we now know as Sydney continues to weave the Dreamtime Southern X text into its modern, built-up environment. Discover how to experience contemporary Aboriginal society right in the heart of cosmopolitan Sydney today ...
Unfortunately, this was really the most disappointing excursion of the trip so far. The guide was very nice, but not well organized and kind of scattered. She started by telling us we were going to talk a little in a first stop and saying that her boss/colleague had told her recently to make sure that the tour was walking and not just standing and talking. And then we stood there for a little over 40 minutes on a 90-minute tour. It's not that it wasn't interesting, but it just didn't live up to its goals. And we didn't actually make it to all of the places that were on our list because we ran out of time.
However, I did learn a few things about native life and culture, so it wasn't all bad. It was interesting wandering through streets and alleyways of an older part of Sydney while seeing things built out of sandstone and in some cases with pictorial art on them as well as dedications to native history and arts/crafts.
Lisa & I also had lunch at the oldest pub in Sydney.
Thursday evening we went on a Sunset Harbour Cruise that left from Circular Quay (Sydney Harbour) and traveled from there to Darling Harbour and back. The food was pretty good and the sunset was amazing! And what a moon!
