Rock Chapel Return

Today I'm writing about Wednesday, October 12th (since I'm so behind in my posts - due to many circumstances - I will take occasional opportunities to remind you when I am as well as where I am!
Back in July, when I was in Hamilton the last time, I had the opportunity to visit Rock Chapel trail twice - once on my own the first full day I was here, and then with my friend, with whom I share a foundational love of nature. In July, it had been my first chance to meet this person 'in person'. So today, when we met up back at the entrance to the Rock Chapel trail (part of the Royal Botanical Gardens) it was like coming home.
He and I set out, and because I knew that we would be talking and just being in nature, I wasn't intending to take any photographs. But this one, near where we actually entered the trail, had to be taken. I love it when the leaves of autumn trees look almost luminescent. And while I always appreciate the reds and oranges of the swamp maples (as we called them when I was young) sometimes the yellows are the best.
It was a lovely day, just a hint of a cool breeze and a mix of sun and trees. The foliage was absolutely spectacular in spots; sometimes our walking and talking just had to give way for standing and staring in wonder for a short time. [For more pictures of Rock Chapel, albeit from earlier in the year, check out my earlier post from - I think - the very beginning of August.]
It's amazing how inspirational and amazing time spent in a place you love and with someone you truly care about can be!
