Queenstown! (part 2)

Deb

I just realized I forgot to show my photos of Mirror Lake. What a beautiful, quiet, shaded under the trees spot to find right along this major roadway.

After arriving at the end of our coach trip, we then boarded a boat that traveled the 16km fjord out to the Tasman Sea (and then back). Our coach driver made sure we all had our picnic lunches, which we took with us on the boat.

At the end of the cruise, some of the passengers were getting back on the tour bus (to arrive back in Queenstown about 7pm +/_ but my itinerary called for me to fly back to Queenstown. This was amazing; a small plane that just allowed us to explore and marvel, from ground level, from beside, and sometimes from above the mountaintops, including views of waterfalls, lakes, and glaciers.

I'm including lots of pictures, but nowhere the number I took! It just seemed like every moment of the plane ride brought a better picture that the one before.

What a lovely day. Flying back down also resulted in a much short return trip; I was back at the hotel before 5pm.

That evening we were booked to visit the Onsen Hot Pools Original Experience. I had never been to a place like this before, and Lisa and I both went. We were shown into our own private area, with a hot tub with a surround, sitting just inside the far wall of the 'room', which wasn't there (there was a sort of garage door that could be brought down to create the 4th wall. But what was the point of a 4th wall?? We could sit in comfort, at dusk and into the evening, in the open air, with a beautiful out to the countryside, dotted with a couple of structures quite far away. It was quite lovely, actually ... and relaxing.

And then back to the hotel for some sleep before tomorrow.
