For any of you who follow along, my dream trip is coming up in exactly two weeks.
I leave for Australia on 14-September, arriving in Melbourne on 16-September. While in Australia, I start in Melbourne, then on to Adelaide (including Kangaroo Island), then to Brisbane, then to Cairns (have to see the Great Barrier Reef!), then Darwin, then Perth, then finally Sydney. I have at least three or more nights everywhere I go, meaning I can not only explore the newest base city but also take day trips to the areas around.
Part of the trip is the Mensa International Board Meeting (IBM) in Perth and the Mensa Australia Annual Meeting in Sydney. I'm not doing anything official with either, just using them to see some of my widespread (geographically at least) network of friends and hang out and explore.
I'm traveling on my own for the first 4-ish weeks - other than occasionally meeting up with some of these aforementioned friends. But then, on 15-October, my friend Lisa is joining me in Sydney and we will travel together until the end of the trip.
We leave for New Zealand on 22-October, and will be visiting both north and south islands. Also, a few friends there I hope! I am so looking forward to this part of the trip; in fact, New Zealand has been my one 'bucket-list' place for as long as I can remember. We start back to Boston and then New Hampshire on 6-November.
My best intention is to update the blog every day or two while in the South Pacific. I know sometimes I get behind, but if I get too far behind on this trip I don't think I will ever catch up!
So please stay tuned!
