Free Day in Cairns!

I didn't sleep too well last night - waking up multiple times. I also had to do a conversation with somebody back in the US on a personal project.

My secure email with my absentee ballot for the November 5th election finally arrived. I'm not back in the US until after the election, and there is no way I'm not voting. I know I'm only one person, but I have always believed it is part of our civic duty to vote. This election is vital in many ways to the way I want to see my state and the nation move forward. Little did I know though, that it would take me almost an hour in the Australia Postal Service office. But my ballot is on its way, and I'm happy to have that be the case.

So ... I definitely got a late start, not really ready to do anything until about 12:30 this afternoon. I thought about different things, but it was very, very, very warm and equally as humid. I decided the Botanic Garden might be a good place to be, so off I went.

Unfortunately, it just got more and more humid. In fact, every so often while I was in the gardens the humidity just tipped over the edge into sudden rain. I managed to get around some of the place, but ultimately realized I wasn't really enjoying it much. So I called an Uber and headed back to the hotel.

By about 6:00pm though, it was feeling much more comfortable. I walked over to the shoreline and sat watching the dusk start to fall.

I wandered around for a while and then came back here to start to have some dinner and start to pack.

Tomorrow, on to Darwin! The temps are supposed to be in the 90s there for the next few days (not unexpected) but it looks somewhat less humid at least.
