I arrived in Ann Arbor, Michigan a few hours ago, and I'm only staying overnight.
After more than a week of weather with high temperatures each day at or over 100F/38C (just too hot for me, as a said a few days ago) - today it was just over 80F when I arrived late this afternoon. And still enough time to go out and find some peace.
I asked at the hotel's front desk and the gentleman working didn't have a lot to suggest. I thanked him for what he had proposed (walking around gardens near the hospital) and looked online once I got into my car. And discovered something called the Barton-Argo Loop Trail. Only about 2 1/2 miles long, which seemed like enough in warm, muggy weather. So off I went.
It was really beautiful. I admit it was kind of muggy under the trees - the area is definitely mature and there are lots and lots of trees and undergrowth. The trail was dirt, with rocks and roots. While the trail was relatively easy with some up and down but nothing extreme, the trail itself was partly down a pretty steep hill so sometimes the path edge really skirted a somewhat intimidating slope down to the water of the river. Not a place one would want to lose one's step!
This walk was exactly what I needed after a week of not really being able to be outside and then two days with 12+ hours of driving total. If it wasn't so humid, and also starting to get a little dark under the trees, I might have done more. But there is always tomorrow to find another path, wherever I land.
Along the path ...
Some of the vegetation
I was walking along the river after all (and you know how I love water)!
Finally, just a few more pictures of trees.
