The last time I was at Crater Lake in south/central Oregon was about 20 years ago. It looks pretty much the same now - absolutely and breathtakingly beautiful!
You probably already know this, but Crater Lake is the major feature of Crater Lake National Park, and is a collapsed volcano. It was formed almost 8,000 years ago when Mount Mazama collapsed to for an over 2,000 ft deep (about 655 m) caldera. The lake itself is almost 2,000 ft deep (almost 600 m), and is known for the deep blue color of the water as well as the water clarity. It is fed only by rain and snow. I believe it is the deepest lake in the US and in the top 10 worldwide. The lake has two small islands (Wizard Island and Phantom Ship (a natural rock pillar).
Next stop on the trip ... Yreka, CA to see to see other family.
