Bust in Banff

I had intended, as I said, to spend the day in Banff.

The trip there started out on a high note - I exited the hotel in Canmore to the end of a shower, and as I entered the Trans-Canada Highway I stopped to take a picture of a beautiful rainbow.

I thought "Great - the rain is over!" Little did I know.

I arrived in Banff and stopped at a walking trail through the woods and along a river. Walked into the entrance to the trail and a few feet in, and there was the path under water. All the signs said "Stay on the trail." but I would have walked into the woods a couple of feet if that would have kept me dry, but the woods were very overgrown and almost as wet as the path.

So I decided to find another path to walk later on, and go walk around the center of the town for a while. I found parking, got out of the car and before starting to walk the few required blocks, took a few pictures of mountains and then of the clouds rolling in.

The view of the mountains kept morphing into what you see just below. I did walk downtown (very attractive) but as I walked it started to sprinkle and then rain and then really rain. However, pictures of shops obscured by raindrops, aren't really my thing at this point in my life. It looked like good pictures of Banff, or even the Canadian Rockies, weren't going to happen today, nor was a dry walking path likely to be found (whether the water was coming from below my feet or over my head,

I decided to move on to Lake Louise and see if I had better luck. Back to the car, and back on the road.

As I drove, there was an occasional attempt at clearing, but always the clouds and rainfall came back. I did get pull over and get out of the car a couple of times to get at least some pictures as I made my way through the mountains, but wish I had a lot better view! This may warrant another trip to the Canadian Rockies in the not too far distant future. It may.

Since it didn't seem to be much of a day to be out in nature (and then have to get back in the car and drive while extremely damp!)I I made the decision to press on back over the US/Canadian border. It was Tuesday by now, and I knew I had to find a place where I could comfortably stay for 2 nights as I had multiple Zoom meetings on Wednesday. I ended up at a Homewood Suites near Seattle Tacoma Airport, in an area called Tukwila.
