Always Time for Butterflies

In my last post I mentioned that I was hoping to go to a Branson attraction called The Butterfly Palace and Rainforest Adventure. And I did exactly that.

I have to admit, I had my reservations as I arrived and started inside. One walks into the gift shop area in order to purchase a ticket, and there were people just everywhere. I saw no one except myself wearing a mask (not that unusual nowadays) but there was no way at all to distance from others. There are multiple small areas with displays (e.g. a room with amphibians and reptiles in glass cages or small environments and a mirror maze).

I did also watch a 15-ish minute film on the migration of Monarch butterflies near the end of my time, and that was pretty well done.

However, the highlight for me was definitely the actual butterfly area. Again, it was very crowded, but I could (at least mostly) focus on the butterflies. As one enter, there are small scent vials, and a lot of the smaller children had them and could 'collect' butterflies on them for short periods of time. I actually had one land on my dress for at a minute or so (pictures below), and then on my hand.

In the (very) short video below you can see it open its wings and start to fly away. By the way, it's pretty difficult to take pictures or videos when it's sitting on you!

I did manage to get some pretty good pictures of a few of the butterflies - there were lots flying around, but they are quick!

Also, here are three additional short videos of butterflies.

Despite the number of people and the level of noise, I did enjoy the butterflies! I think next time though, summer would not be my choice of time to visit this particular attraction!
