Darwin - a New Plan

Today is Saturday, the first of my unexpectedly free days in Darwin. I spent a little time looking for things to do, and decided to take a walk around the area of my hotel this morning (before it gets too, too hot). I also walked down to a more commercial district with a grocery store and some restaurants and shops. I picked up some fruit and water bottles, along with some cheese and crackers and headed back to my hotel.

Later in the day, I took an Uber to the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. This is actually one of the highlights of my trip so far. It was full of all different kinds of aboriginal art. I was stunned by the beauty and deep resonance of some of it. I just kept taking pictures; it seemed like everything was worth taking a picture of. I will show some of my favorites here in the blog. Honestly though, I walked around the museum for almost 3 hours and could have stayed longer.

I can't include everything but curating this part of the art is going to be really difficult. The description/artist plaques come after the piece itself.

And other types of art from painting/drawings:

There were other parts of the museum as well including one on the history of the flora and fauna of the area as well as on what one will see around the area today. Here are some selected photos.

They were also several video presentations, of which I offer some information and a few photos of two of them in the next blog post.
