We met our drive (Dave) at our hotel earlier Tuesday morning for this all day tour. We were the only people on it; we had the car and driver all to ourselves. It was pretty amazing, and Dave was great!
We took the high summit route, seeing Akaroa Harbour, the Canterbury Plains, the Southern Alps (from a distance), and seeing bays and farmlands as we traveled. Akaroa is a quaint 160 year-old French harbourside village. It's not a very big village, but it seemed like Dave knew everyone! It turned out he had worked there for a little while some years ago.
