I was booked on an all-morning guided tour of the Adelaide Central Market today, including breakfast at one of the cafes, and a "sensory and interactive gourmet walking tour with a local food expert ...to experience the exciting buzz of the market". Those of you who know me well know how I feel about shopping. Or wandering around and not actually shopping. Honestly, I don't know how I overlooked that this was on my schedule.
I cancelled, and spent a few hours wandering to and around the Adelaide Botanic Garden, which was wonderful!
The entrance, all dressed up for this artist exhibition coming to the botanic garden.
Just wandering, with a small friend being one of the first things I saw
Cactus & succulents
More just wandering
Wisteria Arbour and Mediterranean Gardens
This is 'Vivid Lime Icicle Tower' by Chihuly [2022]
And more just wandering
And finally, more just wandering. Note the friend in the middle picture. It landed and walked around right in front of me, within a meter, and stayed for at least 5 or 6 minutes. Like me, just wandering - but also pecking at things, which I didn't do!
Afterwards, I walked around the city more and over to the Central Market - everyone said I had to go, so I did. It was pretty good as these market go - it was well organized and there were lots and lots and lots of shops/stalls. But there is only so much of that kind of thing I can take. I walked through up and down all
the aisles, bought nothing at all although I looked at a few things, and then left to walk the distance back to my hotel.
So ended the exploring part of my last full day in Adelaide. I leave in the morning (Wednesday, 25 September) for Brisbane.
