I spent a couple of days in Carmel, Indiana (Indianapolis area) a few years ago, and thought it had a really nice feel. Once I left Cleveland on a somewhat circuitous route toward Ames, Iowa, I realized I was going to be passing right through that area. So why not stop for a day?
I arrived in the early evening and checked into a hotel, grabbed some dinner and settled in to read and relax.
I knew that I was heading to Davenport the next day, but that was only a little over 300 miles away. When I was last in Carmel I had only limited time to explore their (admittedly) small downtown area - although I had visited an art gallery at which I purchased a set of four original watercolors that had turned out (by chance) to be painted by the gallery owner. I was determined to get back there on this trip.
I packed, checked, out and then wandered around the downtown for a while. I love the architecture that you see in this town. I do have just a couple of pictures.
Also, I managed to get into a couple of art galleries, including the one from last time. Didn't buy anything this time though.
On to Davenport, Iowa this evening!
